Mother Sally (“Muddah Sally”) represents female fertility and is seen with exaggerated breasts and an enormous bottom. Mother sally is also part of Barbados Traditional Tuk Band, along with other costumed figures such as: Shaggy Bear, The Donkey Man, and The Stiltman.
Little do you know, Mother Sally was originally costumed by a man wearing a mask to shield his identity. Today’s Mother Sally in Barbados is now a maskless woman.
Mother Sally is always good for laughter, and is the favourite character amongst visitors and locals of Barbados.
