The Road To Dominica: Part One

My Trip To Dominica: Part One

Lights! Camera! Action! This is my part one blog post of my trip to another Caribbean Island , Dominica.

Now this trip was actually a missionary work for me and not so much a vacation. Although I scheduled my vacation from my 8-5 work, I will indeed say, This was a great cause.

Interesting enough, the Seventh Day Adventist group I am part of , partnered with an international group. I seem to have had some traveling mishaps for our sea trip as I cancelled my means of going to the island by boat, as the boat I discovered we were going on , is actually a  fishing boat. I said to myself , there is no way Ricardo Ellis will travel miles in the sea to Dominica on such a vessel like that!

So last minute , I booked a flight with Liat Airlines literally 13 hours before of my scheduled departure from Barbados. I rushed , packed , quadruple checked to see if everything needed for my two week stay was all in my luggage. Morning came so fast and I was all set to leave my apartment.

My flight was for 9:30am, but for me usually the ideal time is to arrive to the airport is 2 hours of the flight, so I got there for 7:30am.

Checking in at Liat booth, I specifically asked for a window seat, and as highly blessed I am, I was granted one.

Selfie time!

Right before my flight I stopped by the coffee shop and bought me a $16 meal which only was made up of a chicken pattie and hot chocolate. Took some photos with my love ones and then I was off to board the plane.

I must say, it was smooth sailing throughout my local airport, Grantley Adams International Airport of Barbados. The staff were all warm and pleasant. As I got on the tarmac to board the plane , it was so windy , although it was probably like 30 degrees Celsius, the wind made it “cool like ice”.

All aboard Liat Flight 302 from Barbados To Dominica.

My seat was 10A, right below the planes left wing, and I had no space in the overhead luggage compartment as other passengers got there first before me. So I gently tucked my bag under the seat ahead of me.

All clear for take off!

It’s like when that plane torque kicks in like an adrenaline rush, and no time we were in the air.

When they say Babrbaods is a flat island , believe me , we are!

We made a “U-turn” in the sky and we were all set to our course to Dominica.

It was all a clear sunny day above those feet in the sky above the clouds. The beauty sensation, the several cloud types, and the awesome ocean view.

Unfortunately here in the Caribbean, our lovely beaches sometimes gets invaded by seagrass seaweed. There was quite a few in the sea. The Flight went calm and as we passed a couple of islands, I even got to see an aerial glimpse of Martinique as we passed by.

Ah, were now approaching Dominica. The Flight lasted an average of 45 minutes in the sky. We touched down calmly and it already felt like the experience is gonna be superb. The pilot flew the plane on point.

END OF PART ONE.

PLEASE NOTE: PART TWO OF THE ROAD TO DOMINICA BLOG POST ALONG WITH SEVERAL PHOTOS WILL BE POSTED IN THE NEXT 72 HOURS. THIS WILL INCLUDE THE MISSIONARY WORK, DOMINICA LOVELY FOOD AND SO ON.

Thank you for reading and may you be blessed more with peace and love!
